“Bagno Imperia” is located at the northern end of the renowned “Seaside promenade” of Viareggio, one of Europe’s longest and most elegant pedestrian boulevards, lined with shops, restaurants, cinemas and manifold businesses.
Our private beach club faces Piazza Maria Luisa di Borbone, which, together with Piazza Giacomo Puccini, has housed some of the largest and most renowned hotels of the town and Versilia since the 1920s: Principe di Piemonte (formerly known as “Select”) and Excelsior.
Until the 1920s our beach club mainly comprised simple wooden structures, which looked like a small house (top left in the photo on the side)
In the 1930s the private beach clubs are entirely renovated and rationalized under the fascist regime.
The beach club “Bagno Imperia” takes on the classic T-shaped structure, perpendicular to the coast line (dating back to the 1930s)
1938: Piazza Maria Luisa di Borbone is built in the place of the gardens of “Bagno Lido”, which then neighboured our private beach club – “Bagno Imperia” in its present-day layout
